Google Adsense - 10 Months On

The story so far...

I started this blog in September 2006 and the first thing I did was signup to Google's Adsense Program(aff.), as this blog is hosted on Google's own Blogger platform this was very easy to do. I was actively blogging and posting nearly every day for 6 months until February 2007, where I ran out of steam and other commitments took up my time and I stopped blogging altogether.

In that first 6 months I made a grand total of $52.99, less than $10 a month, not much really is it.

Fast forward 10 months...

Even though I haven't actively posted on my blog since February, I've kept an eye on it, checking the visitor stats and money making programs every once in a while. Over the last 10 months I've noticed the number of visitors from referrals from other blogs going down but hits from the search engines going up, to the point that I was getting more visitors when I wasn't posting than when I was. My earnings from Adsense and other programs was also going up, in the last 8 months I've received 3 payments and another due at the end of this month from Google, the payments have been for just over $100 every 2 months. This still isn't big money by any means, I'm not going to be able to give up my day job anyway, but it's not bad for doing nothing.

Of course the next question is "How much more money could I have made if I had continued to blog everyday?". I don't know the answer to that, but if I can continue to post again and build up traffic from referrals once again, it would be interesting to see if my earnings increase again.

Despite not posting for 10 months my traffic has actually increased, although most of my traffic now comes via search engines rather than refferals. If I can get my visits from refferals back up again I should get significantly more traffic than 10 months ago.

I'm Back

It's been 10 whole months since I last posted on this blog, but I haven't abandoned it completely, I've been keeping an eye on it. I stopped posting because of family and work commitments, I got a new position at work and at home my little girl has been taking up more of my time. I'd like to keep this blog going so I've decided to start posting again, not like before and posting every day, but maybe once or twice a week.

Even though I haven't posted for 10 months I've still been getting regular cheques from both Google and Friend Finder (more details of this in a future post) and I'm getting at least as much traffic as when I was posting regularly and promoting the blog. I'm hoping that when I start posting again my traffic will increase to more than ever before. My next post will be a report of my earnings and traffic over the past 10 months.

I'll also be visiting all my old favourite blogs again so expect a visit soon.
