Adult Friend Finder Affiliate Program

I was reading some of my favourite blogs yesterday and I came across a post at Mike's Money Making Mission about how he's made good money with the Adult Friend Finder Affiliate Program. As progress has been slow lately in the money making department I thought I'd give it a go myself. I've signed up and put a couple of banners in the left hand sidebar, I've tried to keep the ads clean though, as I want this to be a family friendly blog.

I will let you know what happens, I won't be pushing this product too much so I probably won't make anything from it, we'll just have to wait and see.

Update: You can now see how I did with Adult Friend Finder in this post Adult Friend Finder - 10 Months On

If you found this post interesting, then please consider subscribing to my RSS Feed, you can also receive updates via e-mail.

MyBlogLog

In an attempt to drive yet more traffic to this blog I signed up with MyBlogLog, a free online community for bloggers. I took this from their about page:

"MyBlogLog is launching this new Communities service to empower authors and readers to operate at the same level. For the first time, everyone who reads a web site or blog can learn about and engage with one another, and in the process take the conversation to a whole new level.

Readers can become friends with other people who read your favorite blogs. See what else they're reading. Check out their MySpace and Friendster profiles and view their Flickr photostreams. Authors can learn more about their readers individually and as a group. What do they like and what are they ignoring? What are they reading elsewhere on the Web?

MyBlogLog enables you to take advantage of your existing presence on the Web and ties it into communities of like-minded readers and authors to add context to the conversations in which you take part."

I signed up to MyBlogLog about a week ago and through it I have found some interesting blogs, more importantly people have found mine. It hasn't as yet significantly increased levels of traffic to my blog, but I think as more people join my community and I join others it will. To date I have received about 30 referrals from MyBlogLog, but I expect this to increase as I get involved in the communities.

Other benefits of MyBlogLog are widgets that can be added to your blog, including recent visitors box that shows the pictures of the 5 most recent community member visitors (you can see this at the bottom of the right hand sidebar) and top 5 links on your blog. MyBlogLog also offers basic site stats which can also be upgraded for a fee, messaging and contact managment.

Give MyBlogLog a try it's free unless you want the upgraded stats, so there's nothing to lose, but you might gain some more visitors though.

Attack of the Spammer

Today I seem to be getting hit by a spammer he goes by the name of Scott Arthur Edwards (probably not his real name), he has so far today left about 25 comments, the same 3 comments repeated over again. All the comments are asking people to visit 1 site or another that he probably gets paid for. I've had to spend ages deleting them all, a waste of my time and a waste of his time too. I've been to his blog and left a comment politly asking him to stop the comments but he has continued regardless. I noticed when I left the comment he has moderation turned on so I don't suppose it will ever make it on to the page. I am now going to have to turn my moderation on for a while until he gets bored, I turned this off ages ago because I wanted people to be able to comment freely and not have to wait to see their comment appear.

Hopefully he will see this and stop, but I don't suppose he even reads the posts on here.

New Band - 84mm

I just wanted to write quick note to publicize my friend's son's band 84mm, they're only 13 and 14, but they're really good. This is from they're website.

84mm have only been together for 10 months but as you will have already
noticed they are attracting enormous interest from talent scouts within the
music industry, after only 8 gigs in total. They are incredibly tight for their
tender years and deliver jaw dropping storming performances each time they hit a
stage. These boys believe in practicing hard and having fun along the way!.
Their own brand of Power Punk combines catchy sing along choruses with heavy
riffs.... this has met with much approval, the nodding heads and smiling faces
bear testament that the crowds enjoy what they hear and always want more!! The
boys feet are kept firmly on the ground and unlike some young bands they don't
take themselves too seriously. They are under no illusions and at the moment are
simply having Fun with a capital F! and enjoying it enormously....

Check out they're website www.84mm.co.uk, they're definitely going to be the next best thing.

Remember you heard about them here first.

New Layout

The other day I was looking at this blog and thinking about how I could make the most of it and I decided it was time to change the layout a bit. The trouble with the default Blogger Templates is that they make the main content very narrow leaving lots of blank space at the sides that could be filled, so I started by widening the content to fill the whole page. I then noticed that my left sidebar was getting really long, so I split it into 2 and created the second sidebar on the right, now it's possible to see both ads and my content links above the fold.

Please let me know what you think of the new layout and if there is anything else that could make it better.

Text Link Ads - Missing Out on Blogger Blogs

A little while ago I signed up with Text Link Ads (aff.) , as I had heard good things about them and that they were a good potential source of income. So I signed up no problem, but when I submitted this blog to have ads placed on it, I received an email saying that my inventory had been declined and listed some reasons ie. the website does not have enough link popularity or the website does not have enough traffic. I decided to email them back to find out exactly what the issue was as I believed that although I wasn't getting masses of traffic I thought it would be enough for this. I received the following reply:

"Blogger is one technology that we do not have a working script for. Our developers are currently working on something but I am not sure when this will be available. That is why the site was declined."

This wasn't mentioned on the submission page and it was only when I had a look on their FAQ that I saw this:

"Unfortunately, unless you have a dedicated hosting account where you publish your Blogger blog, our script will not work."
I think Text Link Ads (aff.) are missing out here as there are a lot of great Blogger hosted blogs out there that could sell a lot of links and make huge profits. It can't be that difficult to write a script that can work on Blogger.

You can of course still be an affiliate and advertise Text Link Ads (aff.) themselves.

My Ebay Experiment - The Results

It's been 10 days since I listed my 3 text links on ebay and the auctions have now ended and the results have been rather disappointing. I'm not sure what I really expected to be honest, but I sold 2 of the links for £0.01 each, leaving one unsold. It didn't bring much in the way of traffic either only resulting in 6 referrals from ebay in the whole 10 days. Not exactly a rouring success and seeing as it cost me £0.45 to list the links, I actually made a loss. At the end of the day though it was an experiment and it failed, some of the factors that may have had an effect are, poorly written listings, blog not receiving enough traffic and blog having no pagerank. It might be worth trying this again if this blog ever really takes off and I start getting a lot of traffic and pagerank.

Blogsvertise - Pay Per Post

I've been signed up with Blogsvertise for a while now and I've just realised that I haven't written about it yet.

What is Blogsvertise?

Blogsvertise assigns tasks to registered members, emailing them with a website address to talk about in a post on their blog. Just write an entry about the site, you can write whatever you want, you just need to link to the site at least 3 times. You can choose to accept or decline any task assigned to you, there is no obligation to accept.

How much do you get paid?

Assuming the post gets approved you get paid between $5 and $10 dollars per post.

When do you get paid?

You get paid directly into your paypal account for each post after 30 days of the posts approval, there is no minimum payout, so you don't have to wait until you've written a number of posts. If you only write one post you will get paid for that post.

Is it any good?

I've written 3 posts for them so far, I get offered about 1 task a week, so it brings in roughly $5 per week, which at the moment is better than my other schemes. This sort of thing may not be for everyone though as pay per posts may put off some people. I think because this is a blog about making money I can be forgiven for writing a post as an advertisement, readers of other types of blogs may not be as forgiving and maybe put off. It is a good way of earning a few extra dollars but you need make sure that your readership will not be affected by it before considering it for your own blog.
