What do you think of my new header, I knocked it up yesterday? I know it's pretty basic, but I'm no graphic designer. Let me know what you think, is there anything I can do with to make it more interesting?

Header is okay but I think I would have chosen a USD bill instead of a Bank of England £20. If your traffic is anything like mine then most of your visitors will be from the US and they can be, ahem, a little insular! I think they are more likely to associate with a banner with a nice green USD bill on it.
Just a suggestion (which you might think is bollocks!)
Good work on the logo, simple yet effective.
Another idea could be a google cheque as a background.....however that may upset some of your advertisers!
Hi Tom, thanks for keep coming back to read my nonsense. As for the header, I chose the £20 note as it was the only note I had to hand to photograph. I was just looking at my stats and suprisingly I get slightly more visitors from the UK than I do the US.

Tom, if you like to read this site regularly, have you though about subscribing to the email feed, it's really good, you get sent one email a day with the latest posts, that's if there has been at least 1 post that day. The link is in the profile section above.

You most likely will NOT make any money, but I hope you meet and make some wonderful friends through your blog. I think a regular job is where you are most likely to make money. Most blog readers will pass quickly by a make money blog, whereas if you were writing about your life, your goals and something of interest, you will have many return guest. That is what makes blogging so great. Good luck though! But it ain't likely going to put no bucks in your wallet.

I appreciate what you have to say but I would like to say that, I am in fact making money, not a lot but thats the whole point, my aim is to make some extra cash not to make 1000s. Secondly I already have a regular job and quite a good one at that but we can all do with a bit extra. Thirdly I think I am writing something of interest and I already have many return visitors and a number of subscribers to my feed. Lastly I would just like to say that any extraq money I make is a bonus but if I don't it doesn't matter because I'm enjoying the journey.

Moobear, no one will become a millionaire from a blog but I think Martin has shown that you can earn a little bit of money while having fun. Also, it’s not just about becoming rich; it’s about the “quest”. I think many people will continue to read this blog because they will want to know how the “quest” is going. That is why I read the blog regularly.

Nice header, but how about making it wider? It looks a little insignificant, even on my 15 in laptop screen. If you make it wider, you might need a thicker font. Hm, you might even want to make it wider by putting a clickable banner either side for a good affiliate program. Or perhaps adding a pict of yourself.
